Once upon a time in Gadderbaum

Und so geht also ein weiteres Jahr dem Ende entgegen. Zeit, sich mit sozialen Kontakten jeglicher Form zu versammeln, um gemeinsam Glühwein oder heißen Met zu trinken. Zeit für Weihnachtsfeiern. Diese Veranstaltungen werden ja sehr gerne für den Zweck missbraucht, merkwürdig anmutende Bräuche und Sitten zu etablieren, damit auch garantiert jeder seinen Spaß hat. Und so habe ich festestellen müssen, dass meine neuen ballwerfenden Kamaraden es für eine gute Idee halten, zum feuchtfröhlichen Jahresausklang kreative Werke lyrischer Art eigenen Ursprungs vorzutragen. Kurz: Ich sollte ein Gedicht verfassen. Dieses sollte möglichst auch den Stadtteilnamen des Vereins beinhalten. Und da sich auf Gadderbaum ja nichts reimt (außer: Saum, kaum, Schaum, Pflaum, Raum, Zaum, Gaum…) habe ich das Wort kurzerhand in den Titel verfrachtet und mich des angelsächsischen bedient. Da Gott sei Dank niemand aus meiner Mannschaft hier vorbeischaut, kann ich euch natürlich jetzt schon einen exklusiven Blick auf die kreativen Ergüsse meines verwirrten Geistes geben. Viel Spaß damit.

was perished and starry
the wind told its tale
and the moon was so glary

A poor and young man
with his bride to be
went out to the dark
to cut down a tree

With a lamp in his hand
and his axe on his shoulder
he wandered the forest
while it’s getting colder

At the stroke of midnight
the young man heard a noise
it was scary as hell
and let him no choise

He turned around
and what he would behold
was a giant grey wolf
majestic and old

As the fear began rising
he had one chance at least
the young man pulled his axe
and spoke to the beast

“You demon from hell
I swear to the Lord
I’ll cut you to pieces
and spread them abroad

You will not harm me
or my lovely bride
if you get one step closer
you will die tonight”

With a blistering voice
so daunting and deep
he starts to respond
to the innocent sheep

“I will not hurt you
or your little miss
I’m just outside here
’cause i had to piss”
